Point and Concept

I think

Quick Composition History

"勉強会" in English

I feel that "study group" does't covey important nuance the "勉強会" have implicitly in Japanese.

Its a kind of study group, but it stress that,

  1. unofficial
  2. voluntary
  3. not conducted by the authority for the theme

"勉強会" exaggerate that laymen who are interested in the same theme gathers and teach each others, all members will be both a teacher and a student.

The turn (teacher/student) depends on the detailed topics and who knows best it in that timing.

You can imagine you are studying for the specific exam, in school, and the students in same class gathers and prepare for the test in first food or cafe.

I think that context have similar atmosphere with the "勉強会".
